Jiayi is the change we want to see!

Jiayi is a passionate Year 10 student at Northern Beaches Secondary College and a dedicated Ocean Youth Ambassador. She is also the founder of Wastebusters, a youth-led initiative focused on tackling litter through active beach cleanups and community education. Her commitment to protecting the ocean and local environment shines through her regular volunteering efforts and leadership in mobilising peers to take action. Whether she’s organising clean-up events or raising awareness about marine pollution, Jiayi is a powerful example of how young people are making real change for a healthier, more sustainable future.
She recently was a Runner Up in the 2024 UNSW Bragg Student Prize for Science Writing and is a Youth Advisory Representative for the Red Cross.
